Meet
DJB

In the 1970s, as a child growing up in Brooklyn, New York, surrounded by gospel, soul, Motown, pop, and rock, I purchased an AM/FM cassette player and began editing music from the radio station WBLS and followed Frankie Crocker (my idol). In 1975, after purchasing two turntables and a mixer, I began to learn the art of mixing. I became a follower of Fantasia (Grand Master Flowers) in 1977 after I began playing for events (small house parties and halls). In 1980, as my DJ system developed, I started spinning at block parties and doing backup DJing with Kwame Sha and Scooter Love at Club Studio 243 in Brooklyn, New York.

Moving forward to the 1990s, David Vaugh and I opened H&H Quarterly on Classon Avenue in Brooklyn. During this time, I traveled over the east coast for events, spinning for several events that included the following:

  • Weddings:

  • Masonic lodges;

  • Family reunions:

  • The New York City Sheriff's Department;

  • The 81st Precinct;

  • Ed Towns Democratic Club and various block organizations.

Finally, thanks to Sergio "D" and Ken Murph, who played my mixed CDs on his morning show in 2012, I joined Classicsoul1075.com with my own show that airs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 4 PM. Suffice it to say, while it has been a journey spinning, I believe that it is God's gift to me. To that end, when I spin, my main goal is to make people happy by playing the music that they love.
